Lutz Koppetsch & La piccola banda
Saxophonist Lutz Koppetsch embarks on new, seemingly exotic paths with his new ensemble La piccola banda.
The instrumentation violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp and accordion, which at first glance may seem strange, allows chamber music sophistication and orchestral fullness in equal measure and enables the versatile and soloistic sound of the saxophone to fully play out its colors and characters.
On the one hand, Lutz Koppetsch & La piccola banda thus move towards the originally intended symphonic uses of the instrument invented by Adolphe Sax in 1840, and on the other hand, they capture new, little-followed paths of the saxophone in chamber music.
The musicians of La piccola banda are members of German top orchestras, successful chamber musicians and lecturers at music universities – sometimes even all in one.
